Teambuilding at sub-zero temperatures

For years it has been a tradition at the Christmas party that the management presents three events as a thank you for the commitment in the respective business year, in which colleagues from all locations can participate. This year's choices were rafting, a Lebanese cooking course or skiing:

Skiing on the Steinplatte

After skiing could not take place the last two years due to Corona, we had to briefly worry about this year's team event again at the beginning of January. Due to the warm weather, there was hardly any snow and the skiing area had not even opened yet. But snow came and we could go skiing!

14 colleagues had decided to take part in the skiing day and bravely formed carpools from Munich and Traunstein. Missing equipment was rented quickly after everyone arrived the ski area Steinplatte was explored. Already after the first descents we noticed that it is not so easy to stay together as a big group. We had lost sight of each other quickly, but the joy of seeing each other again on the slope and not expecting someone you know waving at you from the gondola makes it even more fun.

We all found each other again at lunch and arrived hungry at the Stallen Alm. The well-organized team quickly provided a variety of dishes such as Käsespätzle (traditional cheese noodles), dumplings, roasts, etc. For dessert, of course, there was the obligatory Kaiserschmarn. A huge portion, which we barely managed to eat. But of course nothing was left over, some still hungry mostly male colleagues gleefully ate the leftovers. Before we headed off to the slope again, we treated ourselves to a round of hot granny with cream.

The wild ride on the slope continued. In between, however, not quite as fast, because we were slowed down by the extremely poor visibility. You could hardly see the previous gondola when going up and on the slope the colleagues quickly disappeared in the fog. It was extremely helpful that some colleagues were wearing bright color combinations skiing outfits. Just always follow the blue-orange ski overall from Manu, then nothing can go wrong. The fog settled in a thin layer of ice on our hair, jackets and unfortunately also the ski goggles. After each ride on the chairlift, the ice trickled down from us while moving around. Nature is just fascinating.

But the poor view and unpleasant weather soon made us dream again about the warm hut and good food. We decided to leave the cold behind. Those who were not so concerned about the surface of their skis went down the valley descent. There, we encountered quite a few small rocks on the slope and were able to let off steam by skiing straight down the hill at the rather flat parts of the slope. Whoever knows the valley run to Seegatterl, knows what we're talking about, there are a lot of flat sections. Even Kevin the snowboarder believes us now.

We ended the successful ski day in the rustic Seegatterl Alm with another round of beer, cappuccino, hot chocolate and a few Germknödel (Germdumplings).

Conclusion

With such a rapidly growing team, you get to know a new colleague at every team event. And so this time, too, interesting conversations arose in the hut, chairlift or in the gondola, quite apart from work topics and structures.

A successful team event despite low temperatures. And the most important thing: Everyone arrived home safe and sound and without injuries. By the way, the weather was very sunny and warm the next day. Of course, because we ate and drank so well!
